THE
SATANIC RITUAL ABUSE MYTH
AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR WORKERS IN CHILD CARE

The Satanic Ritual Abuse Myth, (SRAM) has cost the taxpayers of this country millions of pounds. It has also resulted in the destruction of many innocent families and their children.
Rochdale, Orkney, Notts and all the other SRAM cases were totally avoidable. The Police, Government, NSPCC etc., all chose to ‘ignore’ documentary evidence proving the non-existence of SRAM and instead followed misleading propaganda from hardline Christian Fundamentalist groups seeking a platform for their intolerant religious world view. Evangelical groups like REACHOUT TRUST provided most of the misinformation on SRAM used by the authorities. REACHOUT is exclusively Born-Again Christian and even other Christian denominations are regarded (by them) as being Satanically inspired. Their intolerant doctrine ensures that they seek satanic adversaries even where none exist, i.e. SRAM.
REACHOUT campaign against: Meditation, Yoga, Alternative healing, Acupuncture, and anything else, which they regard as being against GOD'S-LAWS. For years carers attended seminars that drew heavily on REACHOUT style propaganda, the result was many avoidable dawn-raids and broken families. Human rights groups like SAFF (sub cultural alternatives freedom foundation) and PAN have provided a counter offensive against the damaging material put out by REACHOUT, bringing sanity where before hysteria reigned supreme. In 1994 Professor la Fontaine finished a government report which examined 84 cases of claimed Satanic/Ritual abuse. The result proved beyond doubt that SRAM was created by Xtian fanatics and radical social workers. It also proved that the whole fiasco was a total hoax.
Many naive individuals thought that another Rochdale or Orkney could never happen again after this conclusive report hit the headlines. The Mail on Sunday report, "NEW WITCH HUNTERS" 1st February 1998 proves the contrary. Discredited fundamentalist material is again being used to educate trainee social workers. Major Universities are again highlighting the SRAM and referring to it as though it were a reality. A recent TV programme "NANNIES FROM HELL" featured a family that claimed to have sacked their NNEB Nanny for being a Satanist endangering their child. No evidence was given against the girl and her identity was concealed.
No child carer is safe from allegations of Satanic abuse whilst the SRAM goes unchecked.
SRAM is a damaging myth that was imported from the USA following printing of the book "MICHELLE REMEMBERS." Much of the SRAM material used by REACHOUT was gleaned from the States. The very same religious activists, who originated the first myth, are again seeking to start more Rochdales as a means to inflict their End-of-Time, biblical word view on the rest of society! Don’t let them get away with it!
All Child workers must find out the facts on SRAM, combat the hysteria and speak out loud before the madness returns.
Disclaimer:
PAN realises that the vast majority of Christians are not fundamentalist or evangelical in make up and we only criticise religious extremists who seek to disenfranchise other faiths whilst bolstering their own. PAN does not in any way condone violence against any persons or property and we must state that we have always worked towards a more tolerant and equal society.
